Boy, Santa does get around at this time of year! Make dreams come true for your little ones with a visit to the man in the big red suit – check out the list of venues below. Ho! ho! ho!

Santa’s Grotto at the Gyle

Meet Santa and receive an early Christmas present for £5. Photo with Santa for an additional £5 or get 3 for £10.
Monies raised at this Grotto will be donated to the Forth 1 ‘Cash for Kids’ Charity.

Opening Times: 10am – 5pm each day on the below dates (there will be a one hour break for Santa to munch some mince pies to keep him going):-

Friday 30th November – Sunday 2nd December
Friday 7th December – Monday 24th December


Santa’s Grotto at Ocean Terminal

Santa is looking forward to meeting all the good girls and boys to find out what is on their Christmas wish list this year!

The festive grotto is located on the ground floor outside Debenhams with ticket money in support of St Columba’s Hospice – our charity partner.

DAILY from Thursday 22nd November until Sunday 24th December.

Monday – Friday: 11am –1pm, 1.30pm- 5pm
Saturday:  10am – 1pm, 1.30pm – 5pm
Sunday: 11am – 1pm, 1.30pm – 5pm

**Christmas Eve (Sunday 24th December): 10am – 1pm (Last ticket sold at 1pm, Grotto will remain open until Santa has seen all in the queue)**

The cost to visit Santa with a gift is £4.50.

Christmas at the Botanics

The winter trail is a place where fairytale meets fantasy. Glowing larger-than-life incandescent flowers rise high into the night sky leading you on a path towards illuminated tree sculptures with delicate beads of light clinging to each branch. There are hidden surprises too – watch out for shards of light, frosty snowflakes, stars and baubles, marching reindeer and gingerbread men where you least expect to see them.

Amid all the festive fun don’t forget to look out for Santa and his elves along the way.


Santa Train (Princes Street Gardens)

17th November – 5th January 2019 (tickets from £4)

Board the train at Santa’s station and then it’s all aboard for an exciting ride around Santa Land. Look up to the Castle, the tree on the Mound, the Big Wheel, the huts and the Ice Rink on the Terrace, and wave to the crowds as Santa sounds the bell.

Tickets are date-specific but there are no time slots – admission is on a first come, first served basis.


Father Christmas’ Grotto (Dobbies Garden Centre)

18 November 2018 –  24 December 2018 (price: £11.99)

Santa’s Grotto is one of the most exciting festive experiences at Dobbies. Bring your little ones along to explore the magical setting, be welcomed by Santa himself and receive a toy of your choice.

Breakfast with Santa (Hard Rock Cafe)

Book in for Breakfast with Santa with your children and toddlers. There will be breakfast, entertainment, a face painter and a chance to meet the man himself!

Available dates: 09th December, 15th December, 16th December – 9am – 11am. Booking is essential.


Santa’s Grotto on Castle Street

17th November – 24th December 2018

Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to Santa… A chance for children to meet the man in red in person, and tell him their dearest wish. Come and hear a festive tale, sit on Santa’s knee, meet his helpers, and receive a wee gift.

Visits are in groups and begin every 30 minutes. Tickets must be purchased for a specific time slot before entering Santa’s Grotto. Visits last up to 25 minutes.

Tickets from £8.50 (each child can take in two adults, first adult goes free with second adult paying £5).


Jupiter Artland Christmas Fair

Join Jupiter Artland for their third Christmas Fair, where the Jupiter Steadings will be transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland with Santa’s Grotto.

Buy unique Christmas gifts from artisan stalls, enjoy famous home-made mulled wine, and learn how to make your own festive floral decoration in a free demonstration. Pick up some delicious street food, enjoy live seasonal music, and meet Jupiter’s Festive Donkeys. Spend time with your family making a wreath to take home, or book into the Elf Workshop to make a special decoration for your tree.


Santa Fun Run (Princes Street Gardens)

Calling all Santa’s It’s time to get into the festive mood and put your running shoes on, and help make wishes come true.

Once more, Scotland’s fundraising Santa’s will run, walk and stroll around West Princes Street Gardens, raising money to grant the Wishes of children for When You Wish Upon a Star.

Come along and enjoy time with family, friends and work colleagues and help us continue granting the very special Wishes for children who are living with a life threatening illness throughout Scotland.


Edinburgh Santa Toddle and Parade (Inverleith Park)

December 1 & 2, 2018

This annual event is now in its eighth year and goes from strength to strength with over 30 charity stalls to brows around within the comfort of a large marquee you can even stay awhile for a snack at the coffee / tea bar or book in to see Santa in his Grotto.
