The Easter holidays are upon us, and we thought we’d help a little by sharing family friendly things to do throughout the break. Let’s face it, there’s only so much soft-play that a parent can take!

Easter Egg-citment at Almond Valley Heritage Centre
10:00 – 17:00 every day from the 30th March – 22nd April

Throughout the Easter school break, the farm is alive with the cheeps and bleats of baby animals, who will be introduced to you at handling and encounter sessions. Grab your clue sheet, sharpen your pencil, and tear around the farm collecting clues on the springtime trail.

Easter Eggstravaganza @ The Gatehouse, Newbattle Abbey College, Dalkeith
Saturday April 6 – 10am – 2pm

Get egg-cited about Easter with a variety of woodland activities and crafts. Art Club will also be selling beautiful home-made willow products at this event. Drop-in event between 10:00 and 14:00 – please register your interest by selecting a ‘General Admission’ ticket. Under 18s must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. Suitable for all ages.

Edinburgh Science Festival @ City Art Centre
Saturday April 6 – Sunday April 21

Inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings, the 2019 Festival theme is Frontiers, exploring the boundaries of knowledge and the spirit of adventure and enquiry that drives science, technology, engineering and maths. Within this theme, specific areas of focus will include Healthcare Frontiers, Engineering Frontiers, Digital Frontiers, Environmental Frontiers and Planetary Frontiers. They provide a platform for some of the brightest minds in science, technology and engineering to share big and exciting ideas from the cutting-edge of their research domains.

Visit your local Pets at Home store for a fantastic My Pet Pals Easter Small Furries Workshop. These workshops are aimed at kids aged 5-11, helping to teach them how rewarding pets can be and how to care for them, making sure you and your kids are all clued up on pet welfare and responsible pet ownership. They’ll meet friendly small furries whilst learning how to keep them happy and healthy during a fun and hands-on experience!

Kids Gain Free Entry to Britannia this Easter With Their Favourite Cuddly Toy!* at Royal Yacht Britannia
All throughout the Easter break

Come along and introduce your toy to the Reception team and gain a free child ticket to The Royal Yacht Britannia (two children go free with every full paying adult or senior)*.

Rated Scotland’s Best Visitor Attraction, VisitScotland, all ages will enjoy seeing the five decks from the homely State Apartments to the Naval Crew’s Quarters where 220 Royal Yachtsmen lived and worked. Spot Clarence the cuddly corgi and friends as they hide along the tour route to receive your badge at the end of your tour.

*Up to two children go free, when they each bring along their favourite cuddly toy, and are accompanied by a full-paying adult or senior citizen.
