The summer school break can feel like a long stretch, especially if you don’t have childcare in place. If you don’t have summer camp already booked to keep your little ones having fun, then we have got you covered. Summer camp allows your child to learn a new skill, or enhance an existing one, meet new friends, and make memories to last a lifetime. Below are some great holiday camps to give your kids the best summer ever!

Some amazing summer camps in Edinburgh

Step It Up Dance
Step It Up Dance is an award-winning urban dance company based in Edinburgh teaching a wide range of styles including breakdance, hip hop and acro dance for tots to teens. They run week-long holiday camps throughout every school break for kids in P1 – P7 as well as shorter active camps & workshops for the under 5’s.

Farm Helper at Gorgie City Farm
Farmer’s Helpers is Gorgie City Farm’s holiday programme for young people aged 8-13 which runs on weekdays throughout the school holidays, 10.00am to 12.30pm. Farmer’s Helpers do real jobs across the farm such as gardening, mucking out stables, painting, feeding animals and grooming our goats. Being a Farmer’s Helper can be hard work but also lots of fun! You can book for just one session, or for the whole week.

Venturing Out
If you are looking for some fun and exciting outdoor activities to entertain the kids, then look no further. Venturing Out’s activities are delivered in and around East Lothian during school holidays. Their holiday activities are brought to you in partnership with East Lothian Outdoor Learning Service. They also offer activities specific to children living in East Lothian who require additional support and are unable to access main stream activity.

Edinburgh Leisure Holiday Clubs
Looking for reliable and fun holiday activities? Holiday Club runs Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm during the main school holidays – with early drop off from 8am and late pick up until 6pm – perfect for working parents. Kids in P1 to P7 can look forward to games, the opportunity to try different sports, arts, crafts, drama, challenges and educational activities such as learning about healthy food.

There’s lots of new fun and exciting activities for kids during the holidays this year with Edinburgh Leisure. Lots of new fun sessions will be running during the 2019 holidays including:

  • Inflatable Fun Sessions at Leith Victoria Swim Centre and Gracemount Leisure Centre
  • Pre-School Camp at Gracemount Leisure Centre
  • Rock Camp and Adventure Camp at Edinburgh International Climbing Arena
  • NICAS Introduction and NICAS Development at Edinburgh International Climbing Aren

The Drama Studio Holiday Club
In addition to drama, art and craft, puppets, filming, song and dance, Tai Ch’i, dressing up, soft ball games, parachute games and performing usually include outdoor games such as football, boules, racket games, skipping and more. It’s action and fun packed for ages 5 to 15. Sessions take place in Wardie, Fairmilehead and Liberton.



Bumblebee Sports Summer Club
Bumblebee Sports offers inclusive, developmental multi-sports coaching for children. The holiday clubs focus on a high-energy combination of games, sports and all-round active entertainment for children aged 3+. Building on a fun ABC-based programme (agility, balance and co-ordination), your child will be introduced to and develop the skills for a broad range of sports. With small group sizes and step-by-step support in a positive environment, your child will have a memorable multi-sports experience. And, there’s even a chance to do a little arts and crafts for everyone to get their breath back. Locations are Inverleith and Glencorse Centre.

Play2Learn Summer Football Camps
Pre-school- school: perfect for boys and girls who love football or sport and involves imaginative story based games, linking the world of cartoons and superheroes. Using simple techniques and fun storylines these games are ideal for the young children in the early stages of their sporting life. P1–P7: depending on age groups they work on 4-a-side, 5-a-side & 7-a-side positioning…but most importantly it is all about having fun! They also do goal keeper sessions.

Young Engineers Summer Camp
A Young Engineers Holiday Camp provides children with a fun and exciting way to explore science and engineering during their holidays. Young Engineers Summer Camp is jammed packed with possibilities with camps running Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3pm between July 8th and August 16th at venues across Edinburgh plus Dalgety Bay. These sessions are £175pw or £40pd for children aged 6 to 9. They also offer 3 weeks worth of sessions for our younger engineers (ages 3 to 5) with 2.5 hours of STEM fun for £85pw or £20pd.

Tumble Tots Edinburgh East
Tumble Tots Edinburgh East are running a camp on Monday 22nd July 9.30-12 at Fairmilehead Parish Church, suitable for 3-7 years. They also have drop in classes each Wednesday on 17th, 24th and 31st July at Fairmilehead. Non members welcome along to try the classes during the summer.

Summer School at Edinburgh Zoo
During Summer School, children will discover the amazing animals, habitats and cultures of different places around the world. As well as finding out about the threats animals face today, and how we can help, children will take part in a range of fun activities such as zoo trails, games, arts and crafts, animal handling, building enrichment devices and much, much more!

Earth Calling Summer Holiday Wildlife Clubs
As one of the leading voices in environmental education, Earth Calling supplies ‘hands on’ unique environmental projects and activities to schools and the community. Their summer camps run throughout the summer holiday and are different every day. Activities range from mini beasts, tree climbing, off road woodland exploration, river dipping, raft building, sweep netting, river art, rope swings, tidal rock pooling, beach combing, swimming, coastal rambling and sand castle building to name only a few of the activities on offer.

Edinburgh University AFC Summer Football Camp
This year’s summer football camps will run over four weeks. Your child will enjoy full access to the 3G astroturf at Peffermill Playing Fields guaranteeing play on a perfect, all weather surface. Training will be from both male and female SFA qualified coaches (EUAFC and EUWAFC players) and will include sessions from EUAFC coaching staff.

World of Football Summer Camp
This summer holiday, the World of Football at Marine Drive will be offering fantastic sports & activities summer camp.  Children ages 7-12 can try new activities, make new friends and most of all have lots of fun! They’ve got your holiday childcare covered – hosted by dedicated staff, giving parents peace of mind, whilst ensuring maximum enjoyment for kids!

Port Edgar Watersports Summer Camp
Looking for some entertainment during the school holidays? Port Edgar Watersports have a wide variety of courses available for those aged 8 and upwards. Our adult courses continue throughout, and they have fun days out for the whole family (including under-8s).

Kids Summer Sport Camps at Oriam
Oriam will be hosting a variety of summer sports camps for kids. There will be weekly sports specific camps from week commencing 2nd July to week commencing 13th August including netball, football, basketball and gymnastics. As well as their annual summer Kings Camp happening throughout the holidays.

Summer on Stage at The Lyceum
Each Summer The Lyceum welcomes over 100 young people to be professionals in their building over the month of July, in their ever-popular Summer on Stage project. Aspiring performers work with theatre professionals to develop their performance skills, make new friends and perform on the main stage in a fully supported production, and for those who want to experience working behind the scenes, the two-week technical course will allow you the chance to help make it all happen.



Highland Fling
This holiday club is for children up to 14. Opertating from 8am – 6pm Monday – Friday, each day is designed to give children the chance to get lots of fresh air, try new things and spend time with their friends. Their highly trained, diverse team of staff have developed a format that is the perfect balance of planned activity and freedom of choice.

Each day is packed with a tonne of outdoor activities. You’ll see them running around Portobello beach, charging up Arthur’s Seat, foraging in the woods or playing some football in the parks. With a fancy stage at their disposal, you’ll even catch them performing the odd show or two! Highland Fling is Portobello based.
