Museum | Old Town

The diverse collections at the National Museum of Scotland will take you on a journey of discovery through the history of Scotland, the wonders of nature and world cultures – all under one roof.

From the age of dinosaurs to the technology of the future, the galleries contain treasures from around the world.

From meteorites to monsters from the deep, the Natural World galleries tell the story of our planet, while the World Cultures gallery link people and possessions across the globe. Follow the story of Scotland from prehistory to the present day in the Scottish galleries, marvel at a spectacular array of over 800 objects in the Window on the World and meet the Scots whose ideas, innovations and leadership took them across the world in the Discoveries gallery.

There are lots of interactive activities for the kids throughout the museum, and they often hold special family friendly events throughout the year. Check out their what’s on calendar for more info.
