This 5 star initiative definitely deserves the name “Grand”. The Edinburgh Grand opened at the beginning of June, and we visited it this week to see what all the talk was about!
It certainly didn’t disappoint. The interior is gorgeous, opulent, and beautifully designed to suit the style of the building. It is housed in the former Royal Bank of Scotland office on St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, and this large Georgian building has always been stunning to look at, only now even more so.
The rooms are all apartments (all 50 of them), with their own kitchen and facilities, – and, the ones that we were lucky enough to see all have amazing outdoor space in the form of balconies or the roof terrace, the bathrooms are stunning, and the art deco feel of all the fixtures, fittings, and upholstery complement the building perfectly.
The Register Club is the bar on the 4th floor (a reservation only champagne and cocktail bar), which again looks fabulous, and the cocktails which we sampled were delicious.
Hawksmoor Edinburgh is the restaurant that will be opening on July 15 – we can’t wait to visit there once it is up and running. It will be able to seat more than 170 guests in the main dining room, with a private dining room that can accommodate 12 people. They will be serving Scottish seafood and beef from grass-fed native breed cattle from both sides of the border along with cocktails, whisky and wine.
This multi-million pound development has transformed what was an empty building for the last 11 years into something very special, and very grand indeed.
